Mahogany Cabinet Featured
July 16, 2017
This piece was inspired by the furniture of the great craftsman and teacher James Krenov. Krenov made small cabinets on stands famous. I am drawn to these types of pieces because of their clean lines and attention to detail. Along these lines, my cabinet attempts to capture both of those elements. It has clean lines but also features a lot of detail including hand sculptured edges, curved lamination for the top, hand cut dovetails, and sculptural mortise and tenons. It was designed as an artistic furniture piece but to be functional in displaying a client’s collection. The piece is designed to hang on a wall. It is made of Honduras Mahogany and Sipo Mahogany.
